As we gear up to open the doors for our first Saturday of September, it's a good time to remind people of the social impact of your bread purchase. Stoneham Bakehouse is a social enterprise which puts its profits into funding projects using breadmaking to support wellbeing. So every loaf you buy helps people in the community to access peer support as part of our Baking for Wellbeing programmes.

Ever wondered about the process for your weekend sourdough?

The next stage of prep is underway for Saturday's sourdough loaves. Saturday's dough gets made just as we open at 10am on Friday, it's bulk proved for four or so hours, then scaled and shaped, before being put into brotform (proving baskets), and placed in the fridge for a slow final prove overnight. It's then baked early on Saturday morning, then put on the shelves to cool, ready for you to buy.

🚪 Our volunteer bakers have been busy this morning, and the doors of the Bakehouse are now open, with lots of bread for you. Whether it's a sourdough loaf, bagel, or cinnamon bun, we've got you covered.

☀️ It's our last bake before our Summer break from baking, so hurry down to the Bakehouse on Stoneham Road to get your bread supplies before it sells out.

🍞 It's our last week before our Summer break. We're open Thursday-Saturday as usual, so do come along and grab yourself a loaf, bagel, or focaccia.

❄️ Bread freezes really well, so if there's space in the freezer, why not get an extra loaf to stock up. Remember, we can slice it for you too.
